CIPD publishes research report on the future of HR
The Chartered Institute of Personnel Development has published
research that could alienate HR professionals, according to
Personnel Today magazine.
In its study, CIPD interviewed 80 HR practitioners across 14
organisations in an attempt to identify how the sector could become
more business-led and sustainable after the recession.
HR practitioners told Personnel Today, however, that the
guidance in actuality offered very little concrete advice.
One practitioner said the advice given was irrelevant to her
relatively small organisation because it was all based on evidence
from larger businesses.
Another complained that the advice was not easily transferable
to his line of work, which was in the not-for-profit sector.
Initial findings of the report were announced at the CIPD Annual
Conference in Manchester this week and complete findings will be
revealed in January. After this publication, the CIPD will run
nationwide forums for HR professionals to discuss the sector's new
direction.
